The Squier Contemporary Active Starcaster Electric Guitar is based upon one of Fender's quirkier creations. With a unique offset hollow body and individual curved headstock the Starcaster was divisive upon its initial release but over the course of time has become highly sought after due to its great tone and rarity.
Sealed Hollow Body
The Contemporary Active Starcaster has a unique sealed semi-hollow body to give you that sought after hollow tone without the feedback issues. Composed of Laminated Maple you get a snappy sound that is clear with plenty of acoustic ring. The Contemporary Active Starcaster twangs when you use it on the clean amp setting but still has plenty of growl when you switch to overdrive or distortion.
All-Maple Neck Construction
Featuring an all-Maple neck and fretboard construction to match the Laminated Maple body, the Contemporary Active Starcaster really hits the mids and highs well, giving you plenty of brightness to your tone without anything in the way of mud from the tone. The neck is shaped to the Fender staple 'C' shaped profile and the matched Maple fretboard feels glorious under your fingers with 22 narrow-tall frets accompanied by Black Dot inlays to ensure you never lose your way on even those most adventurous of scale runs.
SQR Active Humbuckers
A pair of Squier SQR Ceramic Active Humbuckers give you some serious high output, high fidelity tone making the Squier Starcaster perfect for a variety of styles. Powered by an active 9V circuit these powerhouse pickups are great for crunchy rhythm playing and searing lead tones and are a type of pickup rarely seen in guitars at this price point. Master Volume and Master Tone knobs let you dial in a range of tones with a 3-position toggle switch letting you switch between either pickup or both at the same time making one extremely powerful and versatile guitar.
Unusually for a Squier model, this guitar features an Adjustable Bridge with Stop Tailpiece, ensuring your intonation is always on point. The Die-Cast Sealed Tuning Machines give you rock-steady tuning, so you can always rely on this guitar no matter how aggressively you like to hit the strings. The unusual Starcaster headstock features a stripe on the lower side that matches the body colour, adding an unusual yet visually striking aesthetic to this guitar.
The Squier Contemporary Active Starcaster Electric Guitar is packed full of features that you'd ordinarily find on a far pricier guitar. Based on a guitar played by Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood, Killers guitarist Dave Keunig and Jamie Cook of the Arctic Monkeys, you know you're getting a guitar with plenty of heritage.
