The Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster Electric Guitar delivers the sophisticated yet unabashed style of the Jazzmaster at an affordable price. Whether you're taking the leap from an entry-level model, seeking reliable gigging guitar or simply want a versatile workhorse that is a joy to play, the VM Jazzmaster is the ideal choice.
Since its introduction, the Jazzmaster has been the model of choice for alternative players and those who like to experiment. However, it offers so much more than mere tonal tinkering. The steadfast hardware and superb craftsmanship ensure stability across the neck with enduring sustain for an impeccable response.
Cool offset body
The Vintage Modified Jazzmaster body is shaped with a unique offset waist design, making it comfortable to perform with in both a seated or standing position. Built using lightweight basswood, the back-breaking aspect is removed to ensure that this is a fantastic model for gigging with. Thanks to its tonal versatility, basswood is a great choice for those who want a model that can easily segue between many musical styles. Thanks to a resilient coating of gloss polyester, the paintwork can endure for years to come, aging gracefully in the process. A sumptuously decorated 4-ply tortoiseshell pickguard complements the body finish beautifully, adding to the elegant aesthetic.
Solid maple neck
Joined to the body is a sturdy yet responsive maple neck, which is shaped to a substantial yet manageable "C"-shape profile. The generous 25.5-inch scale length ensures that string brightness is articulated with the utmost clarity, guaranteeing that the subtle nuances of your performance are translated perfectly. Paired with the neck is a heavenly Indian laurel fingerboard, which is home to 21 medium-jumbo frets that are decorated with parchment dot position inlays to guide your way. The 9.5-inch fingerboard radius allows your fingers to transition between strings with ease, whilst creating an accommodating feel when executing techniques such as string bends.
Jazzmaster circuitry
The Vintage Modified Jazzmaster is equipped with a pair of Duncan Designed JM-101 single-coil Jazzmaster pickups in the neck and bridge positions, a pairing that makes the most of this model's versatility. From subtle warmth to snarling bite with a sharp attack, these beauties can turn their hand to any musical style.
As one might expect with a Jazzmaster, the control layout features dual rhythm and lead circuits to play with, which are accessible via a special slide switch. In the lead position, the tone and volume knobs, and the 3-position pickup selector switch control the guitar’s tone. In the rhythm position, only the neck pickup is active, and the volume and tone are controlled by the two thumbwheels. Therefore, you can effectively set up two different settings within the guitar itself, to quickly switch between rhythm and lead tones.
Gig-ready hardware
The body is home to a vintage-style bridge with non-locking floating vibrato, which anchors each string securely whilst affording smooth vibrato control. From subtle to bombastic, you can infuse your playing with as much character as you want thanks to the tremolo’s flawless design. The headstock is home to standard tuning machines, which uphold tuning integrity throughout the most demanding of performances.
