12 Studio-Class Reverbs
The meat of this particularly tasty sandwich, the Strymon Big Sky Multi Reverb Guitar Effects Pedal is stuffed with 12 hand-crafted, studio-class reverbs, which offer a mass of variety in themselves, but when combined with the expansive range of controls, provides just about any reverb you can think of and plenty more besides. The reverbs types available are as follows: Room, Hall, Plate, Spring, Swell, Bloom, Cloud, Chorale, Shimmer, Magneto, Nonlinear, Reflections.
Full Reverb Tone Controls
When confronted with such a behemoth of tone, you need a way to harness its power in a way that makes the complex simple and accessible, the Strymon Big Sky Multi Reverb does just that with an array of seven tone-shaping controls available right from the front panel. These are: Decay, Pre-Delay, Mix, Tone, Mod, Param 1, Param 2.
Although the controls here are fairly self-explanatory, the Param 1 and Param 2 knobs are a little more involved, as they differ depending on the selected reverb type. In addition, when creating your presets, they can also been assigned to control your most-used menu parameters, giving you easier access from the front panel.
300 Preset Slots
Speaking of presets, the Strymon Big Sky Multi Reverb Pedal has the capacity to hold 300 user-defined presets, including Infinite Sustain and Freeze, and Spillover and Reverb Persist parameters. These nameable presets (, which are viewable on the pedal’s LED display) are easy to cycle through with the pedal’s switches, or with an external MIDI controller.
Along with stereo inputs and outputs giving you extensive audio options, the Strymon Big Sky Multi Reverb offers even more control over your sound with a MIDI input and output alongside an expression pedal input. The expression input allows control over any knob or combination of knobs and its use can even be saved per preset. Alternatively this can be used as an external tap input.
Analog Dry Path
The Strymon BigSky Multi Reverb is equipped with an analog dry path, with a programmable mix control, which is never converted to a digital signal. Strymon have gone to this extra effort to ensure the purity of your dry signal is never muddied with conversion noise, latency, or attenuation.
By incorporating studio-quality 24-bit 96kHz A/D and D/A converters in the design of the pedal, the Big Sky is capable a 100% wet dynamic range performance of 109dB, and mixing dry and wet signals externally in analogue allows an achievable dynamic range of 115dB at a 50% wet mix.
As reverbs are processor-intensive, the pedal has been equipped with a SIMD SHARC processor core that offers 366 MHz core instruction rate, and 2.4 Gigaflops of peak performance. In short this means that Strymon has not had to restrict anything in the creation of the on-board reverbs, giving you the ultimate tonal experience.
