The Strymon Deco Tape Saturation and Doubletracker Guitar Effects Pedal recreates the hallowed reel-to-reel richness associated with classic '50s and '60s studio recordings. The depth and versatility of this pedal is nothing short of magical, offering a tonal universe for you to explore.
…provides the most convincing tape sounds I’ve encountered in a stompbox.- Joe Gore/Premier Guitar
Strymon's peerless ability to the analogue mechanations of two vintage reel-to-reel tape decks in a digital format is as close to alchemy as you can get. Powering the Deco is a super high performance SHARC DSP chip, which carries out vast calculations with ease to ensure smooth, seamless control over every parameter on offer.
Simple Control, Creative Complexity
Across the front panel are two footswitches (Tape Saturation Bypass and Doubletracker Bypass), a three-way type selection switch (Sum/Invert/Bounce), and five control knobs (Saturation, Volume, Blend, Lag Time, and Wobble). By holding down the two footswitches simultaneously, the secondary functions of each control can then be accessed for even greater versatility (High Trim, Low Trim, Doubletracker Boost Cut, Auto Flange-Time, and Wide Stereo Mode).
The Lag Time knob is perfect for controlling slapback delays, tape echoes, tape flanging, and tape chorusing. Designed with a wide-ranging response, you can take the control from neutral, to subtle, to extreme.
Cleverly designed features include the Auto-Flange setting, which allows you to access a studio-inspired Auto Flange effect that is saturated and richly textured.
Expression Pedal, Tap Pedal, and Favourite Pedal Inputs
The Deco control layout gives you ready access to all controls, but if that wasn't enough, you can also connect an expression pedal for real-time control over any parameter, an external tap pedal for remote time control of doubletracker, and even a favourite switch to save your favourite preset.
The high impedance mono input suits any guitar pickup arrangement - i.e. single-coils and humbuckers, and the dynamic compression inherent in the Deco ensures that saturation is responsive to how hard or softly you strike the strings. So whether you control your dynamics using the volume pot on your guitar, or through your playing technique, the intuitive response of the pedal is perfectly measured every time.
Studio Mode allows you to integrate Deco into your home studio set-up by tailoring the Saturation range to be best suited for hotter input signals, i.e. DAWs, mixer inserts, line level synths, or hot effects loops in your guitar signal chain.
Exceptional Audio Quality
The Strymon Deco Tape Saturation and Doubletracker Guitar Effects Pedal boasts super low noise, A/D and D/A converters with an 110dB typical signal to noise ratio. The analog dry path results in zero latency, as it is never converted to digital, ensuring that your bypassed signal remains in pristine condition. With 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response, you can guarantee that the intricate nuances of your guitar tone is preserved dutifully. The circuitry is housed in a super-strong and lightweight anodized aluminium chassis, which is lovingly crafted in the USA.
