The Tanglewood Crossroads TWCR O Orchestra Acoustic Guitar in Whiskey Barrel Burst Satin finish, is a delightful model that recreates the magic of 1930's American models that helped to shape the musical landscape. By working with master luthier Michael Sanden, Tanglewood have once again combined quality craftsmanship and affordability to perfection.

Scandinavian-led design

Tanglewood and Michael Sanden previously collaborated on the superb Master Design series, and carry that shared dedication to their craft through to the Crossroads' models. Sanden's vision started with the wood, and only the finest cuts were selected following a meticulous selection process. Then he created a unique bracing pattern, and brought everything together using peerless construction methods. Even down to the whiskey barrel burst satin finish, Sanden wanted to ensure that the authenticity of the Depression era models was captured as faithfully as possible.

Orchestra body shape

The Tanglewood TWCRC 0 is built to the orchestra body profile, which makes it smaller than a dreadnought. The orchestra body is perfect for those who prefer scaled-down dimensions, but don't want to compromise on output quality. Whether you're a fingerstyle player or a flat picker, you'll love the ease with which your hands can move around this guitar. Solo performers will appreciate the timbre of the TWCR O, which drops back a little in the mid-range to allow your vocals to fill the pocket. When performing as part of an ensemble, the guitar can easily hold its own against other instruments.

The top is crafted using hand-selected genuine mahogany, which is paired with mahogany back and sides, resulting in a rich timbre that is infused with a warm character. As noted above, Sanden's unique bracing pattern allows the soundboard to resonate freely, whilst preventing unwanted buckling or warping over time.

Neck and fingerboard

Fitted to the body is a solid and durable mahogany neck, which is shaped to a unique profile to facilitate comfort alongside stability. Married to the neck is a hardwood fingerboard, which is home 20-frets that are adorned with dot position inlays. The fingerboard ensures smooth transitions between frets, making it delightfully comfortable to perform on, as well as adding to the stunning overall finish.

Hardware and Finish

The body is home to a hardwood bridge, which matches elegance with stability to ensure a solid anchor point for the strings. Thanks to the superb partnership of hardware and construction across the guitar, intonation and sustain is optimised for peerless performance at this price range. Chrome die-cast tuning machines uphold tuning integrity dutifully throughout the most enthusiastic of performances. Another unique touch is the Whiskey Barrel Burst Satin finish, created exclusively for the Crossroads series of models.

Posted on 15/09/2019 by I've had my this guitar for 3 years it's very well made for price its loud and very easy to play I also have bought a couple years ago a fender cd140 which is nice but the action is very high and takes alot to bare chords compared to my tanglewood I f you want a good guitar to just pick up and practice this is the guitar for you
Posted on 14/06/2019 by Just bought one of these and really pleased. It feels and plays like an expensive guitar. I also own a Martin J40 and it can give that a run for it's money regarding playability and sound. Highly recommended.
Posted on 02/02/2019 by Fantastic, amazing, best guitar I’ve played at this price point (and above). This guitar is an absolute joy. Sounds similar to my Guild DV4, but is a lot more playable. Maybe I’ve been lucky with mine as no two guitars are ever the same. This one has low action, no fret buzz. It’s loud and has bass but not too much.

I’ve had Yamaha, Takamine, my beautiful Guild, and Epi. This is as good if not better than any acoustic I’ve ever picked up. My credentials are home guitar player who has played live on a smattering of occasions. I cannot recommend this guitar enough.
