A cracking little guitar with a big heart, the shrunken dimensions of the Tanglewood Roadster TWR T Travel Acoustic Guitar makes it suitable for a number of purposes, offering quality tonality and enjoyable playability in a form that just about anyone can get to grips with.
Good Things - Small Packages
Put a travel guitar in front of just about anyone and they will give it a play, may be its something to with the unthreatening size of the instrument or the novelty of being small, whatever it is if it gets people playing or encourages existing players to practice more, it can only be a good thing.
The Tanglewood Roadster TWR T Travel Acoustic Guitar, with its smaller, 580mm scale length (similar to a three-quarter-size guitar) and thin body depth, it is instantly accessible to children, who want to begin playing, and those with a smaller reach, who may struggle to stretch their hands when playing larger guitars. For everyone else it is an excellent travel-sized guitar that is perfect for carrying to festivals or even on the plane as hand luggage. It even comes with a deluxe padded gigbag, to make life even easier.
Small Body, Big Sound
Due to its smaller size, you could be forgiven for thinking that the sound that the Tanglewood Roadster TWR T is capable of producing would be equally shrunken, but the very opposite is true. The body of the guitar is deceptively cavernous, with a full, rich, and big sound that truly belies its size.
The tone of the instrument is just as astonishing as its projection, with a hand-selected cedar top providing a deliciously warm, yet articulate voice. This is joined by mahogany at the back and sides, which is a tonewood renown for providing a warm, rounded low-end with plenty of sustain that feels like an acoustic hug.
The top, back and sides, and headstock have all been stripped back to showcase the beauty of the woods on offer, which is sure to appeal to most players. Just a layer of natural satin separates you from the wood. Even the usual rosette and pickguard have been omitted from the design, giving the guitar a raw look.
All about that Neck
As with the top wood of the Tanglewood Roadster TWR T, the guitar’s neck is also constructed from mahogany, topped by a rosewood fingerboard with dot position markers. The fingerboard is matched with a rosewood bridge, which utilises a white, ABS compensated saddle. At other end of the neck is a 43mm white, ABS nut, while the headstock is outfitted with a set of chrome die-cast tuners.
