Whether you're a solo performer or part of an ensemble, the beautifully crisp timbre of the Winterleaf TW9 is ideal for both studio recordings and live performances.

Super Folk body shape

The Winterleaf TW9 is shaped to the Super Folk body profile, which sits slightly smaller in size in comparison to the more common dreadnought. The beauty of this body shape is that it has curves in all the right places. As soon as you pick it up it is noticeably light in weight, and fits snugly whether played in a seated or standing position. The single-cutaway enables your fretting hand to reach the upper frets with ease.

The body back and sides are built using mahogany, which establishes a warm mid to low-end tonal foundation. The top is made using solid cedar, which offers a warm, nuanced projection with a tempered high-end character for a subtle output. If you're a fingerstyle player then you will appreciate the delicately handled tones, whilst flatpickers love the elegant delivery of their strumming.

Neck and fingerboard

Fitted to the body is a solid and durable mahogany neck, which is shaped to a unique profile to facilitate comfort alongside stability. Married to the neck is a rosewood fingerboard, which is home 20-frets that are adorned with dot position inlays. The fingerboard ensures smooth transitions between frets, making it delightfully comfortable to perform on, as well as adding to the stunning overall finish.

Hardware and Finish

The body is home to a rosewood bridge, which matches elegance with stability to ensure a solid anchor point for the strings. Thanks to the superb partnership of hardware and construction across the guitar, intonation and sustain is optimised for peerless performance at this price range. Small chrome die-cast tuning machines uphold tuning integrity dutifully throughout the most enthusiastic of performances.

The Tanglewood Winterleaf TW9 electro acoustic guitar is equipped with the B-Band M450-T electronics system. The system is equipped with a pickup and preamp, which features a 4-band EQ that allows you to sculpt and shape your output to suit your playing style or performance environment. The separate volume knob adjusts the level, whilst the onboard digital chromatic tuner allows you to keep on top of your strings' tuning with ease.

Posted on 15/09/2019 by I've had mine a year, and absolutely love it ~ This was an upgrade from various guitars of scandalously dubious heritage, and has been a pleasure. I play and practice daily, so although it's still relatively new, it has seen some serious playing time, including at open mike's where it has been used by others where the typical question has been "What is this, and where can I get one?"
The size is perfect as a 'Folk', being slightly smaller than the colossal dreadnaughts. Sound is spot on even through the pickup. The built in tuner is a Godsend, which changes colour when dead on, which at first I thought was 'cute' until tuning up between songs where the wisdom of the colour change dawned on me.
