The Tascam DR-07X Portable Digital Recorder is no mere improvement on its best-selling predecessor but a total rethought, whilst retaining the features you loved in the original. Complete with adjustable microphones, clearer sound quality, and a great new design, the Tascam DR-07X is the ultimate recording tool for the musician.
The Tascam DR-07X Portable Digital Recorder now gives you two options in how you record, with the versatility to move the mics from an XY position for focussed recording to an AB position that allows ambient sound to also be captured. Push the built-in cardioid pattern mics in or flick them out and you’re away.
Massively Improved Sound Quality
Along with flexible recording options, the Tascam DR07 mkII also offers improved sound quality. The codec has its own power supply so that the A/D and D/A converter can be used to its fullest capacity, analog & digital circuit boards have been separated and impedance has been kept low through clever circuit board design, all to offer a severe reduction in noise. The Tascam DR07 mk2 now offers recording in MP3 or Wav formats at up to 96kHz/24-bit resolution, captured on your choice of microSD or microSDHC media.
More Recording Features
The Tascam DR-07X Portable Digital Recorder makes recording more accessible for those who don’t want to dwell too heavily on settings but still want high-quality recordings. That said the DR-07X does have all the settings you could want, for those who do want to go deeper.
Peak reduction sets the recording level to the optimum amount for your performance, while Quick Menu makes commonly used playback/recording parameters immediately available. Additional recording functions include Overdub mode, which allows you to record over a previous recording whilst retaining the original. You can also record hands-free with Auto-Record, which starts recording when sound is detected and works with Auto Mark, which will mark your recordings when they fall below the nominal level. There’s also a nice little reverb thrown in.
You can plug your own microphone into the Tascam DR-07X Portable Digital Recorder via the 1/8” line input, which will provide plug-in power for those that need it. There is also a 1/8” headphone output with a Level Align, which it shares with its built-in speaker, that prevents uneven levels during playback. On the topic of playback, there is the Variable-Speed Audition function. This changes the playback speed without altering pitch and you can also loop playback. The Tascam DR07mk2 takes just two AA batteries, which will last for approximately 17.5 hours when recording at 44.1kHz/16-bit, WAV (BWF).
