The Taylor Big Baby Acoustic Guitar, as the name suggests, is a slightly larger version of the ¾-sized Baby Taylor "Travel Guitar”, being just shy of a full-sized dreadnought.

As a 15/16-scale dreadnought, the Taylor Big Baby gives you the volume and fullness of a full-sized dreadnought but with slightly more portable dimensions, which, along with making it easier to transport, makes it more comfortable to play. The exact dimensions of the instrument are: Body Length: 19 1/2", Body Width: 15", Body Depth: 4". As with the Baby, this model has an arched back to provide additional strength and to increase the capacity of its tonal output.

Also ensuring strength is the incorporation of Taylor’s original X pattern with scalloped braces. This form of bracing gives the guitar a continuous flow of strength from the upper, to the lower bout, ensuring the soundboard is provided with continuous rigidity and strength.

With a solid Sitka spruce top at the centre of its construction, the Taylor Big Baby Acoustic Guitar yields a broad dynamic range and a crisp articulation that makes for a guitar that is equally adept at performing in everything, from flat picking and fingerpicking, to aggressive strumming.

The spruce is partnered with layered sapele back and sides, comprised of a core layer of poplar, sandwiched between layers of sapele veneer. Joining layered woods with solid, allows for a guitar that is great in sound but has additional resilience to changes in environment and humidity, whilst remaining affordable and beautiful.

It is the woods selected for the construction of the Taylor Big Baby, along with its portable size and sheer playability that makes it such a great all-rounder and an absolutely stunning, not to mention extremely handy, partner for song writing. You’ll find hard to put it down once you pick it up; fortunately you’ll never have to be without it, as it comes supplied with a Taylor gigbag.

Posted on 21/10/2018 by I have a Taylor 114e, and went in to help a friend choose his first acoustic (he has already progressed a fair way on electric). We tried out this alongside a couple of Epi's (EJ200 and a Dove) plus a Yamaha FG430. There was no competition between the Epiphones, which were to be fair less expensive. The Yamaha was a bit more expensive, and had a lovely finish, but the sound and dynamics on the BBT blew that away too. Also it was easier to play. I was surprised how good this guitar was compared to the others, and how familiar it was compared to my 114e. Hopefully my friend will be inspired by his new guitar as much as I have been with my Taylor.
Posted on 07/11/2017 by I've had this gitar for a few weeks and i absolutely love it, the action is so easy, amazing sound and the guitar physically is so well made and just perfect to look at.... though i kinda wished i had got the electric/acoustic. I'm returning to guitar playing after a long long break and i just wish i had had such a great guitar all those years ago instead of the Eko guitar i had then.... Wonderful guitar can't recommend it enough...
Posted on 25/02/2016 by This is a fab guitar for the price. Really playable with a great sound and low action. Have no complaints and would highly recommend. Love the included gig bag too.
Posted on 09/02/2016 by Bought this in January sales for 300 Inc bag..... Dawsons lowed the action on it by sanding the saddle...... I really can't put it down such a nice guitar and I am glad I got it.
Posted on 28/12/2015 by I played this guitar at my local store and it sounded amazing. Taylor make great guitars but I wasn't expecting this from their entry level model. Great tone and great look, highly recommend.
Posted on 09/04/2015 by I was looking at the Epi Hummingbird and the Big Baby online and I was leaning towards the Epi, but when I got in the shop and played both it was clear that the Taylor was ten times the guitar. It's tone is warm and crisp and its really easy to play.
Posted on 16/02/2015 by Wow, what a great sound, so clear and nice! The body might seem quite light online but it's just right overall it is the best guitar I've ever had and well worth its price.
