The Taylor GS Mini was designed to offer the tone and dynamic range of a Grand Symphony, in a more compact and easily transportable body. Don't let the size fool you though. The Taylor GS Mini Mahogany is built to Taylor's uncompromisingly high-standards of quality and can more than hold its own against larger models.

The top is built using Solid Tropical Mahogany, a dense tonewood that delivers a very bright and punchy sound. The Mahogany top gives a short and snappy tone to the guitar but throughout its life can develop into an incredibly warm and natural soundboard. It is well suited to players who are looking for a tone with plenty of individuality and attitude.

The back and sides are constructed from Sapele laminate, which is composed of a filler layer between an interior and exterior layer of Sapele laminate. The beauty of employing laminate material in the GS Mini means that it is much more resilient than a solid tonewood when dealing with changes in humidity, making it an excellent guitar to take on your travels.

The neck has been fashioned from Sapele and fitted with a solid ebony fingerboard that houses 20 highly playable frets. To add an extra layer of protection to the wood the neck, back and sides have all been finished with a varnish. It is durable enough to protect from scratches and rubbing, whilst also being thin enough to allow the wood to resonate without interference.

The guitar's design is completed with a three ring rosette around the soundboard, chrome buttons and die-cast chrome tuners. A tortoise pickguard also adds protection to the body whilst maintaining the high-quality aesthetic.

The Taylor GS Mini Acoustic Guitar comes pickup-ready. Get yourself Taylor's ES-Go soundhole pickup and a screwdriver and within a few minutes you can set the guitar up to be plugged into an acoustic amp, recorder or PA system. The GS Mini makes setting up the ES-Go ridiculously easy, as it has all the right clips and holes already in place. As this is a simple pickup system it does not have built-in volume controls so Taylor have also created the V-Cable that allows you to control the volume. You can, of course, use any type of 1/4-inch instrument cable and rely on your own playing to control the volume.

Posted on 21/09/2018 by I purchased the GS mini mahogany after watching every video and reading every review - the general advise was that the GS MM was a punchy bright sounding instrument that would impress for its size...this was all true albeit the operative statement being..."for its size"....I saw one comment that stated the GS would give a many full size guitars a run for their money in the full sound department...not true......on the first strum of a C chord I could instantly hear the tinny / metallic ring of the strings trying to pump a bigger than it was capable of sound out of the tiny body...my heart sank and I knew immediately this was the wrong guitar for me and felt the same after playing it for a further 2 hours trying to attain synchronicity between us...sadly it didn't happen...I would definitely recommend this guitar as a high end travel guitar or a high quality start up for a beginner or even good for finger picking specialists....I am sure that once this machine is plugged in and played through an amp it will meet all expectations at all levels, unfortunately as for playing unplugged, especially if you are strumming open chords it definitely falls short in the full voice department. Thankfully the team at Dawson's are amazing and processed my exchange immediately, arranging the collection of the GS and the replacement with the Fender PM3 triple 0 all mahogany with no fuss what so ever even though I have been an annoying customer plaguing them with calls every 5 minutes. thanks for your patience Rob and Paul.
