The new Yamaha DTX400K offers excellent value for money with impressive pads and a choice of 10 user-programmable kits. With many voices to choose from and options for expandability in the future, this is ideal as a first electronic drum kit.

Yamaha are a well respected name in the musical instrument production industry and along with the DTX400K, you are guaranteed impressive quality, durability and a digital kit that will help new players grow and advanced players flourish.

Versatility comes as standard

The DTX400K comes with 10 kit set ups pre-loaded, all of which can be customised and overwritten using the 169 on-board sounds opening up a near limitless amount of combinations to suit your liking. Some of these sounds are sampled straight from Yamaha's own top line of acoustic drum kits and uses accent articulation for exceptional realism.

Simple operation

The easy to operate 'brain' of the Yamaha DTX400K offers a simple to operate panel with one-touch selection of built in drum kits. A clear red LED indication displays which kit is currently active - ideal for performance and practice in darker venues.

The 'brain' also gives you clear control over the built in metronome, adjustment for tempo and volume as well as a training mode button to dive straight into developing your technique. Finally, you will find connectivity for USB, a 3.5mm line in to filter music through to the 6.3mm output and connectivity for the supplied power adapter. Like the rest of the kit, this integral unit is built to last and looks as sleek as it is strong.

Arsenal of high quality sounds

The DTX400K gives you access to 23 snares, 21 kicks, 36 toms, 31 cymbals, and 42 percussion instruments. Any instrument can be triggered from any pad, you can even set the kit up to reflect using a double bass pedal. To help develop your skills, the DTX400K contains 10 on-board routines including warm-ups and groove exercises. There's even a voice guidance system that speaks the result of your sessions.

Thanks to the SB connectivity, the DTX400K can even be used to control sounds in your favourite DAW on PC or Mac. You can even add on and expand the DTX400K if you wish as time goes on to open up even more possibilities. Offering more performance possibilities than ever before, with the DTX400K the only limit is your imagination!

Posted on 24/03/2018 by PhilipC I bought this for my son to get him into music and to be honest, I'm playing it more than he is. Yamaha make great instruments so I knew it would be good quality. It is a little finicky to set up but following the instructions to the letter, it was set up in 25 minutes (i would be much faster the next time). The size of the kit is perfect for a smaller space (W 4ft x D 2.5ft x H 4ft). The noise is like someone tapping on a table so it is far from silent, but it is fine if you close the door. The bass pedal on a cavity floor is a lot louder than they make out but it is still infinitely better than an acoustic bass drum!

The Yamaha Touch app makes changing the kit around a breeze and is really easy to work out. Also, changing the on-boarded demo songs for midi songs is a breeze. I downloaded a Red Hot Chilli Peppers Midi song and loaded it on to the kit in a matter of seconds. Then mute the midi drum kit and you can take over as the drummer. Brilliant way to practice. You can also use the audio line-in to play along to songs on your phone or tablet and the kit mixes your playing with the song. Much better than listening separately.

Recording the song into a DAW is a breeze too. I was just messing around and recorded an elaborate drum fill, copied the recorded track and changed it to a bass guitar, then messed with the notes in my midi editor and now have a really funky fill that has drums and bass in exact time. For the price that is amazing.

I should also add that Dawsons shipped it perfectly and it arrived ahead of the date I'd expected. I got all the text alerts to let me know when and where in support.

Very happy customer!
Posted on 08/11/2017 by Barewires How do you know when a drummer is at the door? The knocking gets faster!
What do you call someone who hangs around with musicians? A drummer.
Now that I am learning I can't say these things anymore. The kit is amazing, very solid, amazing sounds and functionality and ambient so quiet. The Bundle kit has quality throne, headphones and sticks, everything needed to begin. Overnight delivery by DPD was forecast and arrived exactly on time. Great customer support and a good price too! Highly recommended!
Posted on 06/07/2017 by EVOES when I set it up couldn't believe what a compact kit it is, I use it for accompaniment for song writing but I've now become a drummer as well as guitarist, great stuff buy one
