The FG series by Yamaha is the best-selling acoustic series in the world, built using top quality materials and by employing expert techniques which have been successful for over 50 years. The FG850 acquires original features which have been long-established in the FG series but also integrate new, more advanced construction methods to improve the sound and structure of the guitar.
BODY AND BRACING
Yamaha have carried out extensive research with regards to what can improve an acoustic guitar's sound and build. This led to the design of new scalloped body bracing which is used beneath the soundboard of the FG850, giving it extra strength and much better sound projection.
The FG850 is made entirely from solid mahogany in the body, back and sides. Mahogany is a dense, warm tonewood which produces a wealth of wonderful, well-balanced tones. Its woody timbre enriches the mid-ranges and adds prominence and clarity over time.
For the neck, Yamaha have used nato tonewood for its construction which is topped with a rosewood fingerboard. On the sumptuous rosewood fingerboard there are 20 frets at your service for you to enjoy, decorated with dot inlays to guide you. The neck feels incredibly comfortable in your hand and will facilitate your playing ability.
HARDWARE AND FINISH
Rosewood is used in the bridge due to its reliable, enduring frame plus it holds a strong connection between the strings and body.
Die-cast chrome tuners are fitted to the headstock and endeavour to maintain precise tuning. Mahogany and cream forms the body and headstock binding for an aesthetically pleasant finish.
The Yamaha FG850 has an abalone, white and black soundhole inlay joined by an embellishing and protective tortoise pattern pickguard.
The FG850 is a distinguished, solid guitar from an already widely-adored acoustic series; Yamaha have crafted another superbly impressive model in the FG850.
