The Yamaha FG series is the best-selling acoustic series of guitars in the world and the FGX820C draws influence from the superb FG820 and transforms it into an electro acoustic guitar. While Yamaha have kept original features that have elevated FG guitars, they have also employed new, cutting-edge technology which enhances the structure and sound output of the guitar.
BODY AND BRACING
In 1966, Yamaha released the first FG models, and over 50 years on these guitars are still sought-after. Using the last five decades of guitar-making history, the FGX820C is built with a solid spruce body top and mahogany in the back and sides. The combination of spruce and mahogany produces a wide, articulate range of warm, resonant tones with plenty of depth and volume.
Yamaha have employed a new technique to bolster the body top in the form of scalloped bracing. After lengthy research, Yamaha noticed that by using this scalloped bracing beneath the body top, it complements the low to mid range tones with an added richness but it simultaneously strengthens the body top for an enduring build.
The FGX820C is firmly fitted with a nato neck and topped with a rosewood fingerboard. The neck feels reliable and sturdy while the rosewood offers a truly effortless playing surface. With 20 frets at your disposal, you can comfortably explore your way from one to the next following the dot inlays as your guide.
SYSTEM66+ SRT PREAMP
Yamaha have equipped the FGX820C with the SYSTEM66+ SRT preamp which enables you to plug the guitar into any desired amplifier for a bigger, better output. It features very easy-to-use controls on the top side of the body, including a 3-band EQ, Volume control and a handy onboard tuner.
HARDWARE AND FINISH
The Yamaha FGX820C has a sturdy rosewood bridge which maintains a strong connection between the body and strings for better sustain and tone.
The headstock is fitted with die-cast chrome tuners which, even for beginners, are resolute in retaining an accurate tuning.
The FGX820C is an outstanding electro acoustic model that would suit any player from entry level upwards thanks to its comfortable feel and impressive timbre.
