The Yamaha FSX820C hails from the well-revered FG series of acoustic guitars. With over 50 years of experience in building top quality guitars, Yamaha have used new and innovative methods to build the FSX820C whilst not compromising on original appointments found in the best-selling FG series. The FSX820C is ready for the stage thanks to its onboard electronics which work incredibly well to transfer the guitar's natural acoustic timbre through an amplifier.
BODY AND BRACING
The FSX820C has a concert cutaway body shape, which is 10mm slimmer and more compact than the FG models but also produces a full-bodied acoustic output. The body top is constructed from solid spruce and is partnered by mahogany in the back and sides. The combination of spruce and mahogany gives you a wide range of rich, warm tones with a strong, resonant projection.
Thanks to extensive research into various guitar-building techniques, Yamaha have come up with modern and innovative scalloped bracing beneath the body top. This new body bracing reinforces the soundboard and achieves a superb overall sound.
A dependable nato neck is firmly joined to the body and is topped with a rosewood fingerboard. With 20 frets at your service you can explore each and every one thanks to the cutaway in the body allowing for easy reach to the upper frets. Dot inlays decorate the frets to guide you with confidence from one to the next.
SYSTEM66+ SRT PREAMP
Yamaha have fitted an under-saddle SYSTEM66+ piezo pickup to the FSX820C enabling it to be plugged into an amplifier at home or on the stage. The preamp features a 3-band EQ, Volume control and an adjustable mid-range frequency. The preamp also has a convenient onboard tuner, allowing you to keep your strings in check and accurately tuned. The preamp is powered by two AA batteries and these can be easily changed via the top side of the body.
HARDWARE AND FINISH
The Yamaha FSX820C has a robust rosewood bridge that holds a strong connection between the strings and body to enhance sustain and intonation. The die-cast chrome tuners on the headstock work extremely well to ensure each strings stays in tune, ideal for beginners.
The FSX820C has been expertly crafted by Yamaha using over five decades of well-established guitar knowledge. Its economical price makes it accessible for a wide range of guitar players, from youngsters and beginners to more proficient guitarists looking for a compact model that can be taken out on the road.

I was amazed at the difference in tones between a number of models and once we settled on the compact size of the folk style guitars such as this or the APX600 it came down to sound quality.
While the other guitars sounded great the slight extra depth on this one along with the quality of materials used gave an unmistakable increase in warmth and clarity.
It was clear why it was the price it was originally but at a reduced price it was too good to miss.
