The Yamaha P121 SH Silent Upright Piano in polished ebony combines Yamaha's pioneering technical expertise alongside peerless manufacturing quality. Having honed their techniques over the course of a 100-year history, Yamaha has developed their craft that guarantees each and every model is treated to the same methodical approach. Though this may be a highly affordable piano, Yamaha has spared no expense to ensure a professional-quality product.
The P121 series is built to suit European preferences, which means the polished ebony cabinet is finished to an exceptionally high standard of quality. Though compact in stature, the tonality and projection of the P121 boasts that of a full-sized upright, thanks to the carefully selected and treated European spruce soundboard and back posts. Thanks to the deftly shaped design, this beautiful model would make a welcome addition to any environment whether it is in church, school or at home.
The rich tonality of this compact upright ensures that whether you're a student, a teacher, an amateur or a professional, you can execute the most complex of pieces, safe in the comfort of knowing that each and every note will be articulated beautifully. Thanks to the spruce, all 88-keys are represented perfectly, adhering to the unique timbre and individuality of each note dutifully.
Unique "Silent Piano" SH Technology
As part of their undying commitment to furthering the impressive functionality of their pianos, the P121 SH features Yamaha's Silent Piano technology. Thanks to the built-in digital interface and complex silencing hardware, you are offered exquisite tonality and spaciousness when playing silently through headphones.
The silencing function ensures that the hammer is prevented from striking the string. Instead, optical sensors - under each one of the 88 keys - capture subtle nuances with regard to the performance, deliver that note information to a tone generator, which in turn returns the digitally sampled notes to your chosen output. The Silent Piano features a Quick Escape system, which optimises playability and responsiveness across the keyboard, adjusting the distance between the hammer and the strings, in accordance with whether or not silent mode is activated.
There are also MIDI/AUX outputs that allow you to connect the P121 to an external audio device, broadening your recording and practising abilities significantly. By using binaural recording techniques, Yamaha were able to capture sound images of their flagship CFX full-concert grand piano just as a pianist playing it would hear it during performances.
Not only does the P121 SH guarantee exquisite playability with a broad, rich tonality, but also there is a range of additional functions to improve your playing experience. In "Silent" mode, the built-in metronome ensures that you can practise with total accuracy. With 19 voices included that cover harpsichord, pipe organ, strings, and jazz organ amongst others, you'll never be short on options to play with.
Recording performances is easy. For a quick reference to playback and assess your playing, simply use the internal recording option. However, you can also use the available USB port to connect a USB flash memory drive, enabling you to transfer recordings in the WAV format for playback on your PC. The rear panel of the GM digital unit is equipped with AUX and MIDI terminals, which allow you to connect to external audio devices and/or MIDI devices.
The Yamaha P121 SH Silent Upright Piano in polished ebony offers premium features at an affordable price, allowing many more pianists to take advantage of Yamaha's coveted workmanship.
