At the top of the YAS Series things start to get serious with the Yamaha YAS-480 Alto Saxophone. Of course, being Yamaha, this sax is built around the player, to create a highly playable and comfortable instrument with rock solid intonation.
The YAS-480 takes things even further with increased resistance and greater flexibility thanks to its separated key guards. With adjustable screw cap stoppers, these allow finite adjustment. The YAS-480 Alto Sax also manages to be even more playable and comfortable because of the great design of the left-hand seesaw key.
Enhancements to the low B-C# connection have made response at the low range clearer and the closing of the low C# key consistent, along with allowing for improved adjustment. With the octave key system lifted from the 62 Series the Yamaha YAS 480 Alto Saxophone accommodates the use of custom necks, though it is already fitted with a 62-style neck, known for its excellent tone and response.
Although purely aesthetic the Yamaha YAS480 Alto Saxophone’s bell, with its hand-engraved pattern, finishes off the instrument nicely.
