The Yamaha YDP-143 Digital Piano is a beautiful digital instrument that can provide players of all levels an affordable, elegant and simple to use authentic piano experience in your home or venue. A graded hammer weighted keyboard is combined with superb sampled pianos and other instrument sounds for your performance and practice needs and beyond.
Graded Hammer Standard
The YDP-143 utilises Yamaha's Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) keyboard. This gives you a slightly larger weight in the lower register and gradually gets lighter toward the higher notes, just as you would find on a grand piano. The black key tops have also been finished in a "matte" coating making for easier grace notes and improving comfort over longer performances.
Complete with a grand-feel 3-pedal system, the Yamaha YDP-143 gives you damping, sostenuto and sustain control just as you would find on a grand piano.
Pure CF Sound Engine
Yamaha are masters of grand piano production which has given them a powerful advantage when creating their range of digital pianos. The sound of the renowned Yamaha CFIIIS 9' concert grand piano has been painstakingly sampled to give you a rich and expressive tone anywhere you need it. The CF engine translates every dynamic of your playing with astonishing accuracy that both beginners and seasoned professionals will love.
As well as the built in grand piano, there are a total of 10 premium quality sounds that can help you deliver incredible performances. The YDP-143 also allows for split and layer modes so you can combine the internal sounds however you wish.
Record your performance
The Yamaha YDP-143 Digital Piano includes an easy to use 2 track sequencer that is an exceptional tool for capturing performances or as a practice aid. Combine different voices and overlay passages to make your own compositions. All recordings are made in a standard MIDI format and as such can be stored on a computer via the built in USB port.
Further to this, the USB port allows you to connect the YDP-143 to an iPad for use with a whole suite of Yamaha apps designed to help improve your playing and create music. This can be done via an optional Yamaha UD-BT01 Bluetooth interface or a Lightning-USB camera adaptor.
Whether you are an absolute beginner, or a seasoned player that needs a compact yet authentic piano experience to help your abilities to grow, the Yamaha YDP-143 Digital Piano is an excellent choice.

the main focus seems to be on the quality of the keyboard and the sound quality for the piano voices (which there are 3 of).
The other voices (e.piano (x2), harpsichord, vibraphone, organ and strings) aren't that good, seem to be more novelty.
Navigating the voices as also quite tricky, as its a combo of holding keys and buttons to navigate all the different settings. I have to reference the manual every time I fancy changing something because its very awkward. There is also no reference as to what settings are turned on/ off/ amount, so its best to leave them alone when you have it set up as you want.
the default sound I think is by far the best setting, and once the sound its set up as you want it, it makes an amazing piano.
